A Glimmer of Hope

The mist-laden coastal village leaves me feeling uneasy as Aiden and I scour the area for the ferryman. The damp fog envelops my clothes, adding a heavy and uncomfortable weight to my leathers, and also shrouds the old Elven buildings, which appear weathered and worn by the harsh sea air. Moss clings to the walls, adding to the sense of decay, creating a hauntingly eerie atmosphere. I peer up at the grey sky and wonder if I'll ever see the sun again.

As we walk by a small fishing wharf, I watch the fishermen prepare their boats for the day's catch. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks provides a soothing backdrop to their chatter. However, the pungent smell of salt and fish in the air is overpowering, and it makes my stomach churn with a slight queasiness. I wonder how they can tolerate the stench and carry on with their work. The stark difference in our livelihoods makes me appreciate the lush greenery of Willowbrook all the more. The thick mist has covered me in a clammy residue that won't seem to dry.

Despite the thick fog, the coastal village is bustling with activity. As a Wood Elf, I feel the weight of curious eyes following me and my human companion as we navigate through the crowds of High Elves. Their disapproving glances serve as a reminder of the place I hold here. Walking with Aiden, despite his looks and charm, is still a human, and makes it even worse. Making me feel even more like an outsider in my homeland.

However, as we approach the wharf, something diverts my attention. A massive barge has just docked, and a group of rough-looking travelers is disembarking onto the wooden planks. I can't help but feel concerned that their weight may sink the sodden platform. Most of them appear to be warriors, adorned in an assortment of armor and exuding an intimidating presence. Their gear is worn, and their weapons are sharp, giving off a sense of danger that lingers in the air. The sight is unusual for this Elven coastal village, and I wonder if they are here for the Tournament of Champions.

As we make our way towards the ferryman, I can't help but notice the various warriors that have just disembarked from the barge. Some humans are towering over the others, with rippling muscles and battle scars etched into their skin. They carry enormous weapons, including axes and swords, and their eyes scan the village as if they are searching for something.

The dwarves are short but stout, and no less menacing, their beards braided with gold and silver. Some wear golden chainmail armor and carry heavy hammers and axes. I can't imagine trying to leap through the forest in that gear. I look down at my leathers and wonder how I could ever match any of these brutes. One of them catches my eye and gives me a nod, a small smile gracing his lips.

The half-orcs are
